eBay is Exploring the Possibility of Making NFTs and Cryptocurrency a Part of its Payment System

All of us are well aware that during the COVID-19 Pandemic’s first wave, when things got a little out of control and lockdown was instated, worldwide online shopping and the e-commerce sector were booming. eBay, Amazon, and many other e-commerce chains out there run on the same portfolio of providing their clients with the best products via the internet, and it is only evident that the best of the e-commerce world wants to connect with the best of the crypto world. eBay, at the moment, is entertaining the thought of adding NFTs and cryptocurrencies as a source of making payments and such.

Other than that, using crypto payments and making it a functioning system is something else that is being talked down. Other e-commerce sites such as Newegg and Shopify are both embracing the crypto technology with open and wider arms, so one thing is for sure that it is not the first time an e-commerce site is going for cryptocurrency.

eBay is Looking to Make a Big Move in the Crypto World by Entertaining NFTs and Crypto Payments

Jamie Iannone, who is the current CEO of eBay, came forward with this current exploration the company is going through and does share these thoughts “We are currently exploring the opportunities that can lead us to enable NFTs on eBay in a way that is not so tricky or overwhelming for our customers.” When asked when can one expect NFTs to get launched on eBay? Iannone replied that people are selling NFTs on eBay at the very moment while tying these to the physical components. What eBay is looking to do is to make the process more streamlined and efficient in all seriousness.

According to Iannone, the collectible is a core category on eBay, and this is the element from where they are currently deriving all the inspiration to entertain the possibility of adding NFTs and crypto payments as well. According to Iannone, none of it is final, as it is in the very first stages of discussion. After that, it will be passed onto the development, and from that, it might get integrated into the mainframe of eBay. As for the acceptance of the crypto payments, the company is currently entertaining the possibility of going with Bitcoin, but it could be for other cryptocurrencies as well.
