Ukraine Establishes NFT Museum For War Remembrance And Fund Raising

Ukraine is currently a war-torn country, destroyed by the firepower of the Russian military, which invaded the country on February 24, 2022.

As part of putting in place a befitting structure to tell the next generations of Ukrainians about the war, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykhailo Federov, announced on March 25 the launch of an NFT Museum where historical moments of the Russia-Ukraine war would be displayed.

Fedorov added that the museum would be the information center for the conflicts between the two countries; it would serve as the venue for celebrating the country’s identity and preserving the memory of the period when the military onslaught from Russia began.

More importantly, the NFT Museum would complement the ongoing effort to generate donations for the Ukrainian people and volunteers.

Crypto and NFTs, A Life Saver

Through donations from different quarters of the world, Ukraine was able to generate the funds it needed to address the economic impact of the war.

From cryptocurrency to NFT, most of the world’s population has responded to the calls for donations to the cause. Not only is crypto donated to Ukraine, but NFTs also form a substantial part of the donation inflow to the Eastern European nation.

The official website of the newly launched NFT Museum revealed that 100% of the profits accrued from the sales of NFT collections would be moved to the official cryptocurrency wallet of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

Accordingly, the motive for creating the NFT Museum is to leave a legacy on history due to the significance of the war, which has to do with the invading country. The government of Ukraine wants the next generations to be informed of how they lived to protect the sovereignty of Ukraine and what it means to them.

For emphasis, the NFT token represents a verified and confirmed piece of news from an official source with a touch of illustration from volunteer artists, both local and international. No day of the event would be allowed to pass by without being included in the NFT’s history collections.

More Than $65M In Donations Received

Data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation revealed that the country had received more than $65 million in crypto donations since the beginning of the war.

The Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, Alex Bornyakov, noted that crypto had played a notable role in the ongoing effort by the Ukrainian military to protect the country. He added that it has helped meet the growing demand for food, medical needs, and other military gadgets.

Even though most of the donations are geared toward helping the Ukrainian military, Bornyakov disclosed that a substantial part of the donations coming in are used to cater to the welfare of civilians affected by the war.

Ukraine is trying to write its own history without the input of any historian, hence its drive to create a digital museum to store recent happenings for future generations to come.
